Brown University is located on the east side of Providence, RI in the neighborhood of College Hill, just over the rivera and within easy walking distance from downtown. Providence is a small city, and it’s relatively easy to get around on foot. As THATCAmp will be taking place at the same time as Family Weekend, parking may be difficult near campus. We will be posting parking suggestions that for areas that are a slightly further from campus, but allow all day parking.
Official Directions to Brown can be found here.
Some addenda to the official directions:
Arrival by air for the more adventurous: If you arrive at T.F. Green Airport, (Providence airport) you can also take a city bus into downtown Providence. From Logan Airport in Boston, it is possible to arrive in Providence on public transportation by taking the Silver Line to South Station and then taking the MBTA (commuter train) to Providence.
By Train: If you are coming from Boston, it is less expensive and more convenient to take the MBTA commuter train than to take Amtrak. The train station is a 15-20 minute walk (up hill). Schedule here.
By Car: Parking is difficult around Brown, and THATCAmp coincides with Family Weekend at Brown. If you are driving, it is best to arrive early, and park at a slight distance. We will be posting a map of suggested parking spots.
